My wife and I are looking for a residential designer for a custom home in Colorado (30 miles north of Denver). Does anyone have good recommendations? Also if more detail on what we are looking for is needed please reply to the thread.
Thanks,
Eric

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

The best way to get one is to identify existing houses you like the look and feel of, and then interview the designer(s) of those to see who's a good fit with you based on their style, personality, method of working, work product, cost.
try the local chapter of the AIA. http://www.aiacolorado.org/beta/architect.m
This is the link to Colorado's main AIA chapter. You can browse through the registered AIA architectural firms and search for residential architects. Most firms now have websites where you can browse through their portfolios.
Good Luck
