Just when you think you are gonna pack it all in ,something comes up, or in my case
several things happen all, in side of a few hours of one another.
Last week I was offered a fulltime job working with a private non-profit
organization, full time -bennies – Kid friendly-working some on the trades but more
or less being an office monkey” Director of maintenance and transportation”. Then day
before yesterday I came home from working down in Buffalo junction Va. for a fellow
B.T. er “DonK”, and was told by my M.I.L. that she was ready for me to put up 400′ of
chainlink fence and jack her front porch roof up and install a poured concrete floor
with new built on site columns. While talking to her, The phone rang and a long lost
buddy from the cement plant, told me his B.I.L would be calling me in the
mourning to give him an estimate for a rock job in the town next to where I live, a lot
of hard work is coming my way but I think this ole Hoss is still got it in him, I am
gonna give it a try one last time working two and three jobs at once. Wish me luck
and hope the ole ticker holds out. Dwaine Webb

hey bud-how you been doing? I called him up a while back he seemed to be doing fine, busy ,i reckon probley working on his next million.
Missed you today - and yesterday too, come to think about it.
FYI. I wanted to work on the steps, left the kid digging and he went too far down and too far back. Now I have to fill. I was running in three directions today. Not fun. I'm going to need a day to work the cheeks out where they belong, so I can cover the opening for the rain. Tomorrow I told them we quit after a half day - they go home and I can concentrate on what I need to.
If you need help with your stuff let me know - I'll send Russ. :-)
I'm happy that things are looking up for you. It's about time.

Lordy man,!! what ya trying to do? kill me from aggravation!!! I tell you what, sometimes I don't apprecate the mountains but as soon as I seen them old pillars of God sticking into the sky I felt cooler, its hotter than the third step from hell down yall's way.
Sounds like a dose of gravel is what That hole is going to need ,no biggy just another expense and layer to the job. I'll be down there again soon and we will get our minds around the thing, I think we can do more just farting around with the job than some guys can do spending the whole day on it.
One thing I did see on the way home Tuesday was a 65 ford stepside sitting in a juckyard, man I love them type of trucks. One of these days i'm gonna get me one again.
Be well brother. D.W.
Glad to hear that things are going well for ya. Now that we've BOTH suffered through working with DonK, maybe we oughta compare notes.(-:

Nothing to add to this thread - just saw you and wanted to say "HELLO THERE!"
wish you were going to the Fest this year
long time no talk
"Is it February yet?"
Any updates?
Welp, lets see the office monkey job comes down this coming Wed. so I figure I should absolutely know wether I will get that or not in the next two weeks .
The rock job, I went and estimated last Sat. while the homeowner was standing over me looking over my shoulder as I played with the # for materials, as I have to come up with the cost of materials plus laying styles before adding my labor in---Big Mistake-- he actually asked me "is the job gonna cost that much?' i TOLD HIM BUD i HAVEN'T EVEN ADDED LABOR YET! needless to say he did the dying cockroach on me as I left him with a bad case of sticker shock. Shoot I even came down from last years price "a buck fitty"a Sq.FT.--ya just gotta laugh at them idjets.
I have two different family members that is about to make a dying of it,"as they say around here" so I will have to plan around their wakes and funerals ,odd , I know, but both are about leave this place as I sit here writing. So one of them will have a direct impact on the start time on the fence and porch job, so right now I am working for the N.R.C.A. part time--New River Community Action as their manager of maint. and transportation.
I have been catching up Seven neglected headstart center facilities maint, projects,The headstart program takes at risk 3&4 yr.olds and gives them a "headstart" in school it's a private non profit outfit, and when school was in I became known as "Dwaine the tool man"most of these kids don't even know their daddies and from what I have seen and their Grandparents have mostly taken over the raising of these younguns as their parents either don't know how-can't - or don't give a doodley about them.-------IT don't pay the greatest but its one of the best jobs I ever had in my life.
