It’s 1 am and I am pouring over a last minute bid that arrived yesterday for a nice fat government contract. When I find drawings that are poorly drawn and I can’t make heads of what they are intending and the longer I look the more I realize that they are attempting to draw something they are unsure will even work-(breath), I feel comfort in knowing that the details will likely change as we go along.
A smile comes to my chapped lips in the comfort of knowing that the other guys won’t have a clue what to quote. I come to the realization why 8 began the bidding and they are now down to 2, and one of the two likely won’t get the bid finished, so bidding to the stars may just get a nice big fat contract with plenty of profit from go and change orders enough to pay for a 2 month vacation. My guys are gonna love me for this one!
I am grinning big-even though this will be an all nighter.
Never mind the details are jibberish and won’t support themselves let alone the bulging waistlines of the patrons, at this moment, I love Landscape Architects.
Landscape Architects just might make me very very wealthy!

why do you always have to be the lowest bidder by such a huge margin...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Damn Calvin.... I stayed up all night and came up with a number that's $53.00 more... I could have just asked you for the price and gone to sleep!

Naah...it's a truck load, and they are all flat! Like a spaced butcher block. Standard boring utilitarian stuff.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
Warning! Be cautious when taking any framing advice from me. There are some in here who think I'm a hackmeister...they might be right! Of course, they might be wrong too!
I'm no sage Blue... I make lots of mistakes. Likely just getting old enough to recognize opportunities and some of the pitfalls before I fall into them.
This is just a great situation. Make a margin for selling a good job, then break it up amongst 5 local contractors and let them deal with the architects on site. One contractor would likely choke on this...but for 5 it's a walk in the park.
