rez | Posted in Tools for Home Building on December 28, 2008 06:44am

Can someone tell me why these blades are so cheap? Are they junk or what?

You mean the china imports that have the carbide go flying off across the room to embed in the wall or your eyeball?

I think I recognize that brand and it looks similar to one I bought from my shapening service for $95.00.

that's been a good blade for me..

However at the price they are offered you cannot resharpen a 120 tooth blade for 12 dollars.  a sharp blade is superior to a dull one any day!

i have bought blades from this guy on ebay ,nice blades, sometimes he's a little slow on shipping.                                                                    http://cgi.ebay.com/2-12-IRWIN-Circular-Table-Miter-Saw-Blades-Carbide-40T_W0QQitemZ380092191055QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item380092191055&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

hit the sellers store for what all he has. mostly 10 a 12" blades, bosch and irwin, usally by the time the are shipped i average 10 a blade, have  grab some in the 5.00 range when no body bids  :]

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
    DUCT TAPE.

In all likelyhood, one or more of the teeth, but probably less that 3 teeth, have slight inperfections to sharpening angles or small chips from the brazing operation. Work great for rouch ripping, etc. - probably not for high end pro work for use on a compuound miter with hardwood as a tooth chip can leave a small standing ridge that needs to be sanded off by hand.

Have bought quite a few 10" blades similar or lower price from HF and others, that is usually the only thing wrong with them.  Did get one once that did not run true, a short session on anvil with ball peen hammer fixed that.

At 8 cents per tooth hard to go wrong though for any rough work or cutting aluminum.
