Rumor has it that chinese granite is being imported at about half the normal cost. Is this common or simply one guy getting a good one time deal.

We built some cabinets for a hotel and they bought the Chinese granite, I think they were talking about getting it for less then half.
I think I seen a thread on here a ways back about it. I'd imagine your prone to some quality issues.

Hi,
I stumbled upon a firm in CA which indeed was elling it for about 1/3 the cost or less!
But..It was odd sized. You had to build to fit the tops. They did have bull nosed edges and looked good but how do you transport it? Heavy and fragile. Most guys I found who worked granite weren't interested or wouldn't guarantee it would crack like they did with their stuff.
For what i was gathering it wasn't such a good deal with all that could go wrong. If you have the skills/tools to work granite you could do well. Failing that it could get ugly.
Of course this was just my impression of considering a job with this granite as the center piece.
