I have a new hot mopped shed dormer with a low pitch, less than 2:12. The cap sheet can be seen from the street and the contrast with the rest of the roof, a light green 20 year three tab, is ugly. I don’t want to penetrate the membrane. My thought goes against conventional practice. Could I have new shingles mopped over the cap sheet, otherwise laying them as shingles would normally be laid? The house is in Southern California Also, these shingles are no longermade, but I have located a few bundles at the local supply yard. Would this work? Getting someone to do this is another matter. How about mastic or cold cement?
