made some mdf cabinets..whats the best way to combat using an excess amount of paint
just made some shelves/cabinet and ive used mdf before i know the edges will drink up alot of paint short of priming with a couple of coats,what is the best method to stop this?

Apply wood glue to the edges-cuts-routs.
Either thin slightly or try full strength-white or yellow wood glue and paint that on the edges. Run a sand block over it when dry and paint it.
You don't want it to be too thick when applying.-

MDF makes nice shelves, being using it for many years. A good coat of primer is all you need followed by some good latex interior semi-gloss.

This is really nice tip and easy for implemantation too. one of my fried use the same technique to paint shelves and she is happy with it.
