Makita 10″ Slider (LS1016L) laser adjustment?
I have a new Makita 10″ slider and its great but it came with the laser set to the right of the blade (why?). I would like to move it to the left. Unfortunately the instructions are sub-par about how to do this. I see the adjustment knob, what looks like a release screw and then a hex screw on either side of the laser but not sure of the steps to take to move it completely over to the left side of the blade. Does anyone have experience with this?

I just read this from JLC, I'm thinking of buying one. I have a Mak 12" slider with laser, and the setup is similar, it sounds like.

Edit, the adjustment of the laser is different on this saw then on mine. The little screws on this saw are used to fine tune adjustment. Read and heed. Good luck.
Thanks. I fiddled with it a bit more after I posted and figured out exactly as he indicates in the review. Its pretty much set to the left now. I might fine tune it a bit.
I like the saw a lot. I havent used it much yet but I dont find the dual slides to be a problem as he mentions in the review.

I've read several dozen user reviews today, and there are several complaints; first, make sure you have a positive bevel stop. Evidently its not uncommon for these to broken right out of the box.
Second, the upper slide bushings take time to wear in, although severity appears to be saw and user dependent. (They were designed with three bushings instead of the naturally assumed four, though no good reason was given.)
There have also been reported fence breaks upon being hit by kick-back.
One other thing. Call me old fashioned but I tend to not rely on the laser but rather position the piece with marking to the edge of the blade using my eye.
I can see the laser helping with 45 degree cuts where you dont have a clear line but even that I tend to always cut a bit long and then creep it back to the mark to get it precise. Am I wrong here?
ps - as far as I can tell my saw seems to be adjusted properly square etc.

Nope. Never had need for a laser myself.
