Whats going on with these 18volt lxt batteries? Just had the second one fail suddenly after two 1/2 years of light use. Is this normal? Hope not cause my old 12volt are still running fine after 6 years plus.

Are you recharging the battery after every use or are you waiting to charge when the battery stops working? Proper charging of the Lithium Ion batteries makes a big difference in performance and lifespan.
"Proper charging of the Lithium Ion batteries"
And which is the "proper" way to charge them? After every use? or when performance drops off?
I have followed the very brief instructions in the handbook that came with them.
I wait until the power drops off.
