Happy Post Thanksgiving everyone!!
As much as I would love to have a new Bosch table saw…with the current state of economy…it just might be a long wait. Tonight as I was cruising through Craigslist I found the following…for $190.00
“makita 2807 table saw with skil stand and big fence. also makita 1/2″ dado head set available separately ($20). all in great condition used only occasionally. lightweight combo great for contractor or woodworker. bought new would run you over $400.”
Looking at the pictures it looks like it is in pretty good condition.
I just need a table saw for some potential projects around the house for right now, but do not know anything about this particular model.
Deal or no deal. If it sound like a good model is it priced right?
Thanks everyone.
Stan

If you're talking about the Makita 2708, it is a great little 8-1/2" job site table saw that performs best when coupled with a Rousseau table (model 2700) and out feed table (model 2720). I had one for about 12 years until it was recently stolen from a job. That model has now been replaced by the 2703 which according to everything I've read isn't even close to the quality of the previous 2708. The Rousseau table provides the stability the light weight saw needs and a very solid fence.
If I could find one with the turquoise color base in good shape I'd pay $150. If the base is kahki green then it's the older generation of the saw (the one I had), so I'd try to get it for closer to $100.

Go ahead and spend the extra money on the Bosch because you deserve it . Tell the wife that and stick to that story.
You will have a nice saw for a long time.
