Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Is that moulding just surface applied, or are there raised panels?

eddie- They are just surface applied.

Anything come out of your desire to host a stair class?"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end" R. Stan,
Great stairs!!
Do you design all of your stairs in addition to building them? These houses you work in seem like they would have an architect designing them. How much artistist license are you given? And if there is an architect involved what would be the interaction between the two of you?
I'm impressed by the variety of styles you have shown.
Also is there any code issues involved with having open risers .... I like the look and the way it opens up the space but wonder if any question are ever raised.

Dan- I design stairs basically to what I hear of feel the client desires. I will sketch out...or show pictures of previous stairs I have built.
I very rarely have any interaction with an architect. Its been years since doing so.
The open risers have to follow the 4 inch sphere rule. If it passes through anywhere...no pass. Those horizontal strips under each tread are to close the gap down to 3 7/8 inches to meet code.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I enjoy doing different styles.
Stan,
Was the floor done when you set the stair?
And what's the proposed layout having the fireplace down in there under the stair? I'm supposing it's a two sided unit. Maybe a small sitting area tucked under the stair?
I realize you aren't the designer, but am curious if you can fill me in.

Really beautiful.
How are the stringers put together? I thought I saw bookmatching in one of the photos, but couldn't tell quite if it was solid or veneered, or what.
