My wife has this wild idea about putting a wood edge on marble countertops. Has anybody tried this before or is there any reason why this would not work?

Yep...wish I had pictures but I don't sorry. I used a black granite and used cherry edges I made to match my chgerry cabinets a few houses back.
The black and cherry looked totally cherry..lol. Really looked beautiful if I say so myself. Wasn't marble though...Marble isn't agreat idea if you're talking about a kitchen..Marble stains way easily!! I did use it in a bathroom though and even in there I had the circle of a drinking cup stained into the marble that ate away at me all the years I was in that house...

Stain, it does. Also pretty easy to fix. I've got a pile of marble headed into our kitchen when it warms up. Mine's recycled (cheap). No wood edges though, finish gets too beat up.
We cook Italian/Thai. I did some testing first.
