The supplier of our cultured marble vanity tops uses no method of attachment other than to caulk the rear and side splashes.
The tops are not perfectly flat on the bottom, resulting in small gaps between the marble top and the cabinet.
Recently the corner of one of these tops broke off a few days before closing (about 8″ triangle), and I feel this should be covered by the cultured marble top company. More than likely someone leaned on the corner, but since there was no support under the corner I was not surprised.
Shouldn’t the top be set in a bed of caulk to prevent this sort of failure?

I like to run a bead of silicone all the way around underneath ...
but I really doubt a small bit of caulking would keep something from breaking all the way thru ...
I'd bet it would have broken if it was there or not ...
those tops are pretty sturdy ...
either ya got a lemon ... or someone's lying about dropping something or standing on the corner.

I have removed several of those "marble' tops and tubs, and they are hell to break into managable size pieces.Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell'em "Certainly, I can!" translates to ... "plastic"!

Yeah, but they sure don't cut like plastic. Diamond blades work best.
