Has anyone ever used marmoleum as a kitchen countertop? We’re remodling and looking into countertop choices. I’m intrigued by marmoleum’s earth-friendliness. We’re also considering it for the kitchen and pantry floor.
Does is stain, chip, scratch, etc.?
I’d love to see images of marmoleum as a countertop, if anyone has any.

If you are talking about their sheet flooring (comes in rolls) or square tile items, they are not suitable for countertops.
Installers use a knife to cut the material. You don't want anything that easily cut with a knife on your kitchen work surfaces.
we've got it on the bathroom floor, my mum has it in the kitchen and bathroom and several other people i know have it in various places.
its nice, not cold like tile and it supposedly 'heals' due to the nature of the material.
i like it they have some funky colours.
i know an interior designer who uses it for desks and things like that.
Cathca,
Marmoleum (like true linoleum) is a wood composite product. Its very tough and was in common use as countertop material in the 20's, 30's and 40's. Its cool looking in a sort of retro way. Great colors.
As with any countertop material, short of granite, (and even then...), you should always use a cutting board and a trivet for very hot pots. I say, go for it.
Oh... counter edges were typically metal, with a sort of lip up and over the lino. The backsplash was usually simply glued to the wall. I see no reason you couldn't use wood edges, perhaps to match the cabinets; laminate the splash onto 1x6 and use quarter round to trim it out.
Good luck!

Kitchens issue. Not the current one. Kitchen remodel on the cheap. Architect. Used linoleum. Cost was an issue. At the time I believe it had been installed 3 yrs. Was so pleased that he said that he'd replace it with more once it wore out.
What I can't find is the old-fashioned metal edging. Not the t molding that you can get from Outwater....but the old-fashioned stuff that clamps over the edges and attaches with screws. Anyone know if it's still being made?
