I had my guy install some interior trim last week on a twin Marvin dbl hung window.
He use 4d finish nails instead of the brads I left out. sounds like he hit the sping on the right side of one window and the left side of the other window.
I pulled the moldings off and removed the nails…when you open and close the window it makes that ratatat tat noise….bummer.
I’ll call Marvin today but was wondering if any of you had this problem before and how difficult is it to repair.
Thanks in advance.
Be head in my hands….bummer!

I have had to replace the actual spring assembly before. It is a simple operation. Sashes out, replace new spring tube, sashes in.
Remove the old spring tube carefully, so you do not mar the vinyl track.
Your trim guy should be backbilled for not reading the directions. There are laser printed lines on the jambe that delineate the area for 1 1/4" nails only.
Good Luck rg
Thanks Ricky
Whewwww...
there was nothing on the jambs that said that.
Wood jambs, not vinyl by the way.
On Andersons they have that RED sticker on top of their windows....not on these windows though.
I left brads but maybe I wasn't clear doing a 101 other things that day...ugh.
So its easy and possible huh? Thought so....so bummed me out....Just as I was leaving a great exacuted job I found that out as I opened the window...sooooo bummed me out!!!

Yeah, you kind of need to learn that one the hard way. rg
