A friend is thinking about building a house. He’d buy the lot, get an architect, sealed and stamped plans, develop a comprehensive bid package, get a couple quotes from GCs, sign a contract contingent on financing, deal with the bank. Not a big place, probably $400K construction costs. GC would do everything from permits on up. No homeowner “help”. Get paid by invoicing bank directly. I’d like to find names of a couple good GCs who might be interested. Maryland/Rockville general area probably and break ground maybe Spring 2005. I figure a bid package probably will be ready maybe November/December. I’d want experienced folks willing to bid 30 to 60 days after receiving a detailed package with plans and willing to negotiate a fixed fee (after seeing package) for providing a detailed bid. Anybody out there?
