My Masonite front entry door is not plumb and square in the opening and it looks warped. It protrudes out at the top with a 1/2 gap and flush at the bottom. It’s been like this since the builder installed it in 2006. I put a new door handle on and when I would pull it in tight, the mechanism would break so you have to use the dead bolt to keep it shut. It has the two side lights and a transom above it. I had a quote for a Provia door and you could buy a compact car for what they wanted! Any suggestions on how to fix this? There’s nothing wrong with the side windows and transom.

Is it possible the jambs are cross legged? That when the jambs are not in the same plane as viewed from the side. Check them with a level to see if they are the same.
Could be the door was improperly installed. This can be a tough fix if your rough frame is wonky.
sting can help. If you don't have a long level or a long straight edge, you can use a string on the door , top to bottom, left to right and diagonal and see if you have low or high spots on door to tell if warped.
then you can use string on the door frame. run the string tight from one top corner to the diagonal lower and do another on the other top to diagonal bottom. the stings should just barely touch where they meet in the middle of the "X", not touching or one pushing hard on other will tell you the door frame is not correct. This will supposedly tell you if the door frame is all on the same plane.
well years back that's what a factory rep showed us on fiberglass French doors.
Put a level on it. It is racked both ways, not square in the opening and out of plumb.
