What’s the recommended method of building a 55′ block wall regarding setting up a straight line? If I set up story boards at each end there is a problem with the string line sagging and blowing at this distance. Thanks for the input. Tom

In the past, one person eyed along the string from one end while another set a block midway. Today, you can use a laser, which doesn't sag.
Thanks Mudslinger. I've got an idea about how the laser I have could work. Do you build up the midpoint first along with the ends then fill in between using a string line?

That's the basic idea. After extending a string from the ends, set a unit near the middle a bit high, then tap it until it's even with the others. Once you have the middle unit level with (or in line with) the end units, use a twig to hold the line on the middle unit.
Got it. Thanks Mudslinger. I'm actually really looking forward to building this thing next week.
55 ft long huh... does that need some kind of pilasters or something to help hold it up? I don't know - just asking...
A free standing wall seven feet high can go as far as you want. It'll be reinforced with steel and grout as I'll be using speed blocks.
