I am using 1×2 mosiac split face travetine tiles on a 8’x8′ wall. The stone is tight fit and does not get grouted. The mesh backing contains alot of glue so their is little contact between the adhesive I use and the actual stone. I am looking for ideas on the best adhesive to use. It is a dry area and the wall is unpainted drywall.Thinking about tile mastic? Any ideas? I need something with low slag, something with good inital tack?
Thanks for any input! Jim

Prime the wall first. I guess I'd use a tile mastic trowelled on the wall. Probably a 3/16th inch v-notch trowel. It would probably worth a call to your local tile shop and ask for their recommendation, but without seeing what you're putting up I don't think construction adhesive wold be on my list of possible choices.
mastic is perfect for that application.

Construction adhesive would be a bad choice.
Mapei makes a thinset called UltraContact or similar. It has a lot of initial tack.
