I need to make some concrete slabs about 2″ thick x 2’x 3′ to match a concrete deck poured this summer around a pool. They will be supported by stainless brackets and be used to hide the pool cover housing. I thought of using a concrete countertop maker since its a small but artistic task. Any suggestions?

If this "slab" is not on the ground, it sounds like a concrete countertop maker is the way to go. No personal experience on this, tho. You know, you may want to ask this question over in Breaktime. Lots of studly construction experience/ideas over there.

Michelle,
I know very little about concrete, but I believe that concrete countertops have a lot of support from the cabinetry. If you are only going to have edge brackets, 2 inches of concrete may require some extra steel reinforcement inside (rebar) to keep it together. The person to ask is Mongo on Breaktime.
thanks so much for your response and forgive my naivete, but how do I connect w/ mongo?
To connect to Mongo you might try (1) Put the name in subject line, or 2) Make Mongo the To: on the drop down box (I've never tried this on creating a new subject, but it looks like it might work). There are probably other ways, but I'd give these a try first.
Good luck with your project.
