I’ve been told by a siding supplier where I live that 3-3/4″ aluminum siding is no longer made. Maybe someone can confirm or contradict this? I’m a one-man operation doing small remodel & repair jobs, with experience mostly in interior finish work, teaching myself to do a few new things here & there along the way. A customer has asked me to see if I can take care of a spot where a short length of aluminum siding disappeared from a gable at the roof junction of 2 townhouses. The house is maybe 20 years old, from the looks of it. Is it possible that no match can be found for a situation like this, or have I just not looked in the right place yet?

Check a couple of suppliers in your area; one might have a few pieces left in the back. Aluminum siding is going the way of the dodo and is becoming extinct, if its not already. Vinyl is easier to cut, install and repair. Could you take a piece or two from some area of the house where it wouldn't be missed and reuse it? Good luck, it might take you longer to find the material than do the job.
Thanks Shep. Helpful to gain a better sense of context for the problem. Thankfully nothing else I'm doing for this customer depends on fixing the siding!
I've been told to call siding companies before to see if they have any aluminum tearoff that they would spare. I haven't tried this, but it seems like something that might work.
If you just need a small amount, a sheet metal shop could probably fabricate some for you.
Maybe you could "steal" from the chimney stack (ifs theres one) use the pieces saved and redo the chimney in new stuff.
