Interior Design Question. I am renovating a house build in 1982 in the South and I am planning on painted shaker style (Flat) for base and case with like a cove style crown molding. I wanted to reuse my old doors due to budget constraints but they are all the old 6 panel colonial split jamb. Is this a big nono to put this style trim with this style door? I know the more modern houses have 2 panel shaker doors with this style trim. Prob save about $3800 buck reusing old doors. Other open i guess would be to go with a more traditional style base and case but I got a shaker style / farmhouse kitchen. Thank you!

It's fine to use the old colonial doors with shaker-style trim, although more modern houses tend to have 2-panel shaker doors with this style of trim. Reusing the old entries will save about $3800, but another option could be to go with a more traditional base and case style to complement the farmhouse kitchen.
Show a picture of your doors and especially what you are proposing for the casing.
Size of “flat” base?
Thanks.
Here is the 6 panel doors that I already have
Here is an example of the door casing and base Im thinking but with the existing 6 panel doors
$3800 savings? Not hard to live with that!
I assume the crown you speak of is for the top of the head casing?
Why don’t you mock up one door with the trim style you propose and come back with a picture. Opinion? Everybody has one….
Like I told clients, if you like it…..I love it.
I was just talking about the crown in the room between the ceiling and wall, above the head casing. Here is a pic of my mock up for the window. Thank you for the help.
Thank you for coming back!
The window looks good!
Is that the cove above?
The pc is too short to see how it will look when done.
The casings are good sized (good) and protrude away from the wall more than the bottom of the crown. I’m unsure if when done that will be something that matches the look of the casings.
But you are there. Case all the doors and windows and prime the walls and you decide.
Nice job!
