How do you guys deal with materials that need to be picked out by the client. Such as tubs, fixtures, cabinets, tile, mirrors etc.
I deal with many different companies that specialize in each of these and usually I send the HO to each to pick out whatt they want, then we have it delivered or picked up. It seems like a lot of work/time for the HO to spend on picking things out. Some are really happy and excited, others not so much.
Any suggestions on how to minimize the effort needed by the HO tto get these decisions made?

Have that schedule a part of the contract, and stipulate extra charges for delays beyond dates stated.
On smaller jobs, take a deposit to schedule the work, then don't start until everything is chosen and on the way.
A clause making it clear that failure on their part to make choices in timely manner so stipulated makes them in breach of contract and subject to forfeiture of deposit.
in other words, make it cost them money to dwaddle. No reason their procrastination should cost you money.

To minimize the client's effort you could limit their choices to two or three options for each item needed a decision.
But as Piffin points out, getting the decision made in a timely fashion is key to a successful project.
I don't know how you can minimize their effort if they are wishy washy and can't make a decision other than limiting the options.
