Do Max nailers have their own nails? If not, what nails would you use with a Max? I’m wondering if I’m likely to run into problems using a nailer that will need other brands of nails. Am I better off buying a brand that has its own line of nails like hitachi or bostitch?
thanks

You're good. Unless it's a 23ga pinner anyway.... I'm not sure about those. But I shoot Hitachi framing nails in my Max framer. And most 15 gauge nails will fit most 15ga guns, same with 16ga, 18ga, and crown staplers. Gotta watch the hardware nailers. If you're talking about framing nailers, watch for paper vs plastic collated nails and the degree of collation.
What type of nailer are you looking to buy?
I'm interested in the SN890RH framer. If Hitachi nails work I can certainly get those around here. Sounds like a great gun but another issue I'm concerned about is serviceing. I've never even seen a max in any store in my area (north central Vermont). Maybe I would save myself a lot of trouble by just going with Hitachi
I believe you're thinking is on the right track. We've got one Max framing nailer and five or six Hitachi framing nailers. I bought the Max used because I wanted to see what all the hype is about. It's a very nice gun, but here in MA no one that I use services them. To be entirely honest, we prefer the Hitachi framing guns over the Max anyway because they cycle much faster.
If you do buy a Hitachi, you won't be disappointed. They are very durable work horses that take a load of abuse.View Image
