Presently working in Lexington, VA & Masontown WV. 30+ years in the business. List of very satisfied clients available. Require $28/hr + benifit package, how serious are you?
$28 an hour plus beni's, man you're killing me! We're not quite as high as California, yet. Most of the top guys in this area are making $22-25 plus benefits. The benefit packages range between 5-15K. What is your current position with the company, and what do your duties entail. I would be curious to see how you compare to a recent survey, our NARI group did, on job descriptions. This should fall under Lead Carpenter/ Production Mngr.

Send me your e-mail address and I will be more than happy to give you the information that you requested. How can a beni package range from $2.50 to $7.50 per hour?
All companies have different benefits. Some provide everything, including retirement. Others, you're lucky if you get a paid holiday or your cell cost for covered. I do it based on how I feel about who I'm going to work with, and there level of commitment.
Craigerman,
What type of work do you focus on?
Where are you located, and what is your typical job radius?

We're going in the direction of additions only. As of currently, we do kitchens, baths, basements, sunrooms and decks. We also do handyman to fill in the down times.
As far as the areas we work. Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Silver Spring north. DC, VA and PG county are a little too far. It's not to often that we get anything up here in Frederick and Carroll counties.
I belong to the DC/ Metro NARI chapter, and I'm not the only one in need of help. Seems a lot of our members are having similar problems finding and keeping good personnel.
Are you considering moving?
Not moving up north anytime soon.
I'm close enough to commute to the Woodbridge area, but you're way on the other side. I'm not about to spend 5 hours in the truck a day just to commute.
Good luck finding someone.
