tried that with FRP cement worked for a 'bout a day...
did you sand the melamine 1st???
My experience is that contact adhesive will not stick to melamine. There is (or maybe was) a 'melamine glue' that worked great (I last used it ten years ago). It was quite similar in consistency to Elmer's Glue. I think you could use that to glue p-lam to melamine, but it would be a cold-press bond rather than a contact bond. The people to talk to are the laminate/cabinet suppliers like E.B. Bradley or someone similar. Where in the country are you?
I'll bet you're thinking of Roo Glue

Although I haven't tried to laminate with it, I think if I were experimenting I'd do as you suggest...cod press or maybe vacuum press.
The Roo folks could probably tell you, foobytor. Why not give them a call?PJ
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
That was it. I used it to glue some drawer slide shim block to the insides of some cabinets, and it worked great. Sounds like IMERC has already found that it won't do HPL...
it said on the can it would...
that was the FRP cement... it stuck to the melamine well but not to the HPL..
david, I am in north carolina
North Carolina.... High Point... the center of the American cabinet manufacturing universe. Someone there has the answer to your question.... unless you're willing to sand off the melamine and expose the particle board, in which case typical CA will work.
