Is anyone intimate with Metabo cordless drills? In my never ending search for a new drill/driver I came across a 15.6 volt with an ‘impulse drive option for driving screw and some types of drilling (it makes shorter chips when drilling in metal). I would assume it is similar to an impact driver. Is there service readily available in the U.S? For more info see http://www.tools-plus.com/metbst156p.html

Russell,
I am a fan of Metabo, although I have no experience with their cordless line of tools. Parts are slow to get, and not a lot of places repair Metabo. I suggest you call around to local tool repair places in your area before you buy. Their small roto hammers are the very best, and I am told by welders that their grinders are, too.
If you do buy it, be a good citizen and post your impressions after you've put it through its paces. The quest for the ideal cordless drill is an ever fresh Breaktime topic. The price was less than I would expect. Their little roto hammers are 40% more than the (not)"equivalent" Bosch models, and worth it, IMO.

*I have had very good experience with the 3/8 corded drill and the random orbit sander that we own.As a nice tool addict, I feel like the few dollars more Metabo might cost than some best selling brands is worth it for a better tool.I know everyone raves about Festo, but they are just too high for job-site tools.I plan to buy Metabo from now on.Try Tools-plus online, they had good prices and service..
*I have bought a metabo SB 12 Plus cordless drill. I have no regrets with it. although I have not extensively used the drill yet, I have used other metabo products extensively and so have my friends. Metabo's quality seems to be first class although most of Metabo's tool are a little bit heavier than other brands.
