I’m trying to pick out standing seam material for my shop. Based on color I’m leaning towards a 24ga material. Most of what’s out there seems to be 26ga, and of course the 24 is more expensive (I’m awaiting a quote and not sure exactly how much yet). Any opinions on 26 vs. 24? Is the difference significant or negligible?

1)The 24 ga is harder to cut, bend, etc.
2)The finish will eventually fail. It will take the 24 ga longer to rust thru when it does.
My $.02: I'd concentrate on the finish and the company (will they be around for warranty claims?). Good luck.
