Need feedback from others in the know – I have a customer who wants metal roofing on his home, the home is going to be located in the northeast(New York state) what are the pros and cons of painted steel vs. painted aluminum. It would be a standing seam roof.

Use galvalume steel. It has a good warranty, comes in several colors.
Do it right, or do it twice.
I know of some good products for residential structures, but none are available in aluminum. In my part of upstate NY, Fabral does well with the building community, and I used their 1-1/2" SSR on my recent project. Galvanized steel, painted, 24 gage.
Ideal is another viable product, in steel only, shipping in from Quebec.
