Hello I have a question for those who have leveled ceiling joists by attaching metal studs to the sides with fasteners.
I am currently installing the metal studs and find that the out edges of the flanges can be bent out not completely flat, it becomes flat when you push up on the flange. I was measuring from the my leveled line to the outer edge of the flange. I am thinking I should measure from where the flange bends near the middle of the stud, since they tend to move toward the edge.
Let me know what you all think. Thank you!!!

A screw in the drywall will pull the bottom of the "C" section flat.
Drywall will cover some variation. If you are consistent, any method will work.
If you want to be picky, you can use a small square to align the bottom at right angles with the other side of the wood joist. Should be able to pull/push to align with the square as you set the position of the steel stud. (Gloves a good idea)
Thank you for your advice. I appreciate you!
I understand you mentioned any method would work, I am concerned that If I level to the outer portion of the c section which moves and is not flat, that my ceiling will have issues since that portion tends to be a bit off and not exact on all the steel studs.
Should I measure to my level line from the corner were is starts to bend and does not move?
Or it does not matter?

I think this will work.
Thank you uncle mike!
