I just ordered a continuation of a side trim …. metal roofing used as siding with a trim piece which, from the top, drops 2″, then angles out/down 1.5″, then drops 6″, then ends in a little 1/2″ drip edge. The second order … just one piece … came in with a different angle on the 1.5″ angle out! Any tricks or suggestions on bending a metal seam along the length of 10 ft? The only other option is to re-order … losing time .. or to take it quite a ways out to the manufacturer to have them re-bend it!
It’s not a bad difference … but CLEARLY shows and has to be dealt with somehow. Any suggestions?
thanks –
new..

Can you rent a brake long enough to bend it on site? Or maybe take it to a sheet metal shop and have them do it. Either way, you should have a piece of the original to compare the bends. This supposes that the bend isn't tight enough and the angle needs to be closed. If you have to open it up, I don't know if there's a way to do it.
thanks Tom,
I'll play around with it. Yeah .. I've got an old piece and the new piece is differently angled where it comes out from the house and down! Having a weird time with materials lately. I'm just going to try to bend it with clamped pieces of 2X4 or somesuch.
thanks again

When I was a framer that's how my boss bent aluminum all the time--put it between two boards on the deck, knelt on the top board and slid another board to smack the aluminum until it bent to where he wanted it--he was quite good at it.
