Looking for a recommendation for a good carpenter/small contractor in the Metcalfe area. My Dad’s wife (easiest way to describe things, my Dad has passed on) has a farmhouse there that needs some work; I’m in Nova Scotia and it’s hard to get back there with enough time to tackle it. Some of the work is residing a small windowed area….some structural issues underneath probably (most of the house is brick, this is on a stickframed addition). There is some work to do on a deck. Inside, want to look at removing a loadbearing wall to open a room up. Also looking at a hallway that she wants to tile. More work ongoing probably.
I have a couple of names from the area, but no personal knowlege…..looking for a trustworthy type with good references.
Thanks.

Gabe, thought I'd draw your eyes to this one...you might know someone trustworthy and competent in the area.
Hi Calvin....things are generally good, hope they are the same with you.
Metcalfe is a little south of Ottawa, into the farmlands.....Russell, Edwards, are other towns nearby. Not homebase to me; I grew up in the Gatineau Hills north of Ottawa, my dad moved to the area a few years ago.

Adrian,
Sounds like it's a bit outside my normal working radius, but I'm looking at an opening in my spring schedule--still too much snow here to start a couple of jobs--and there are ways to arrange such things.
If you want to talk about it further, shoot me an e-mail with your phone number and the best time to give you a shout.

Thanks, bud, will keep that in mind. Probably not enough work to justify the commute, but we'll see how things progress.

I couldn't commute that distance on a daily basis; just the gas for my truck would cost more than I could bill, LOL. If I took it, I'd have to find someplace nearby to stay for a week at a time and run home for the weekends.
Lemme know.

im 10 minutes away south of the place
how big of a rush are you in . i am currently finishing a job in Greely i have been on since Dec & am supposed to be at the next one in Rockliffe come monday
if it isent a big rush i would look at it as i do all trades
by the way Adrian Metcalfe is no longer just south of Ottawa it is a part of Ottawa for a number of years now
I used to be about 20 miles from Ottawa but with the new boundries i am 1 mile south of Ottawa
Metcalfe is about 10 miles north of the south boundry line
Fair enough, the metro limits seem to be creeping out in every direction.
I just sent you an eamil; post back here if you don't get it ok?
Thanks
