I am looking into the cedar siding from Michigan Pre Stain and I was hoping that someone here might have used them before. If anyone has can you tell me your thoughts on the product and company? How was the price capared ot competitors?
Thanks

I have never used them(I'm a roofing contractor) but many of my upscale general contractors do. The quality seems to be good, I know nothing of price.
*Thanks for the input. I guess price is relative anyways, if you figure in the time and labor they save you by not having to prime and stain on site. I'm waiting for their literature to arrive to see if they advise you to put a second coat of stain on once the siding is installed. The Harvey/Cabot pre stains advise that.ThanksSJ
*Steve,A couple years ago I built a house that used a large quantity of prestained (pressure) cedar. I'm not sure if it was Michigan or not, but it was high quality, and the finish was excellent. There were no drip marks anywhere. The reason I mentioned this was if you do order prestained cedar, make sure you get plenty of extra stain to brush onto your cuts, especially rips. They sent several cans with ball shaped applicators which saved a lot of time-just swab on, stick back in can, and it stays good, and the can is shut. The house I'm doing now is a different story. We've got a few thousand board feet of cedar, but unprimed. The customer's family has been priming and painting, and it is the worst work I've ever seen. It looks like hell.
*Mad DogThanks for the info. I know t hat some pre stained manufactures actually reccomend that you brunsh another coat once the siding is installed. Once I get the information from Michigan I will see if it is possible to get some matching stain for the cuts.I hope everything works out on your job where the customers are crapping all over the siding. Too abd that is the part that everyone sees.ThanksSJ
