I was reading a recent review of 18 v impact drivers, and Milwaukee 0881-21 rated quite high, (although not the highest!). I was in a tool store today, and they were recommending the 2650-21. Both are 18 volt, but I wonder if the 2650 has steel/metal gearing. other than being smaller, what ARE the differences? If anyone has any experience with these, I’d love to know the difference. thanks.

1/4 inch hex drive vs 3/8 inch hex drive?
I just stripped the gears out of the drill driver version
of the 2650.
Nice homeowner grade but not up to daily work. I was having to
shift into first gear constantly and then first gear puked it's
guts.
So now it's useless to me.
PS
The compact (which is what you were asking about) is a 1.4 amp hour
while the full size is something like 3.

true. the 0881-22 is listed as top professional usage with metal gearing...nothing of the kind mentioned on the 2650. The guy in the store was pushing me to the 2650 and had a pile of them ready to go. Based on your story, I'm inclined to keep my focus on the 0881-22, even though it's a bit bigger. Heavy, but it seams like it's a work horse.
they both should have a 5 year warranty...
just got the 0881-22. A real workhorse...love the feel and it seems to run forever."The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a governmental program" -Ronald Reagan
