Anyone tried the new Milwauee router. I am in the markwet for a new router and I am picky…P-I-C-K-Y! Believe it or not I had an old craftsman 1.5 hsp router that I loved. My dad gave it to me and said he paid $20.00 for it at a garage sale. I really liked that OLD router. The motor threw a peice of metal and it no worky no more.
Do you think it is worth it to just put a new motor in it? did I tell youhow much I liked that router?
I like haveing the switch in that handle. Which is why I like my DW plunge router. But the only ones like that are Ryobi..and there aint no way that is going to happen. How is the porter cable D-handle good….
Let me know

I just bought the new Milwaukee router last week. It's OK, but that's all. The ususal workhorse (P-C 7529) died prematurely (i.e. right when I needed it), so, having seen a pretty good review on it somewhere, I thought I'd give this one a try while the P-C was out for repair.
I would have bought the new Bosch if anybody in town besides Home Depot had one on the shelf, but I'd rather have cut those 3/4" dados with a chisel than buy another tool from that place.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel about the "H" place? LOL
I share your feelings.
The Milwaukee is a good one handed router. Also, when mounted on a table it can be adjusted from up top. I just can't find a bushing set from Milwaukee.
I love my D handle PC. The cord from the motor to the base is short and I'm praying that the cord dosen't split at the grommet.
Seems from memory that Fine Homebutchering had a router review a while back that might interest you. Anybody remember that?
The shortest distance between two points is how far apart they are
I have one; I haven't used it much, but it is very comfortable to hold with the right hand and thus seems very controllable. Lots of nice features, too. I got a little bit of feedback from Pat Warner; he has some concerns regarding the subbase being mounted on bosses in the body casting rather than on a machined surface, but someone else said they were able to file those bosses down easily. The subbase mounting pattern is the "same" as the PC690 (that's in quotes as I'm sure it was reverse-engineered - I doubt PC sent production drawings to Milwaukee - so there's some potential for mismeasurement. Someone did say they mounted PC690 subbases to the Milwaukee with no difficulty), so that should open up a whole world of accessories.

Thanks for the tip, Diddidit. I gotta go get the P-C parts now and see if they fit.
I bought the Milwaulkee .I filed the bosses my PC sub base fits but the screw holes are just slightly off. All in all I think that it is a good router and easy to use fits my hand just right. The chuck nuts are large enough to use a real wrench on them , infact it comes with two wrenches .
