Milwaukee sawzall blade clamp replacement
I have an old Sawzall model # 6511 with an old school hex blade clamp that I would like to replace with a Quik-Lok blade clamp. Is this an operation that I could do without opening the tool up, just using the existing armature or do I take it to my local Milwaukee repair shop? Is this the right part number?
Milwaukee 14-46-1011. thanks

Good question I can't answer.
But this bump might prompt someone that can.
I had no idea you could retro an old sawzall. Mine's so old I don't know if I could find a number still visible on the metal spec plate.
I'd hesitate doing it as sure a hell you open it up and a couple springs let loose and there goes a perfectly good tool.
Or,
you open it up on your horses where you just ripped 10 sheets of plywood. I guarantee you won't find what you dropped.
Call up the shop, ask the question of how much if it can be done. Make the decision. Best of luck.
don't rush into this 'improvement'
I had an old Sawzall with the hex clamp that worked great for many years until some genius broke into the garage and carried it off to sell at the local swap meet. So here I am, in the middle of the job, and the 2 month old quick lock, pardon me Quik-Lok, will not hold the blade...there must be some tolerance buildup. Milwaukee tool and blade, all shiny and new, and I'm going to dig out the old handsaw...
I tried to search for conversion of hex to quik-lock and im not sure its possible; you definitely will have to take that bad boy to your nearest Milwaukee dealer. That is the right model number however!
