During a recent inspection of my 12 year old home, I found mineral deposits (corrosion) on all joint of my copper water supply. Is this normal? What can you tell me about this and what should I do about it? I am going to add a bed and bath real soon, and if I need to replace all the pipe, I can plan to do so then. Also, is their a product that I can place in line between the well and the house that will filter these mineral? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

there are inline filters that will take out a lot of stuff present. Places that sell water pumps usually stock a lot of models.
My well water is very high in iron. fortunately I dont need it for house supply, but I do know filters can take it out.
*Are your joints dripping? Hard to believe all of your joints are rotten. If what you see is green it may be corrosion from the flux used to solder the joints. Take some steel wool and and some mineral spirits and rub the joints. If they come clean, your pipes are most likely sound. Even so, I would consider opening up a couple of lines to see if there are deposits inside. Locate your cuts where you can drain the lines completely and also move the pipes enough to slip in a repair coupling. Well water can be aggressive. If your water has a "sweet" taste to it and you have trouble making your regular shampoo lather up you would be well advised to consider a water softner. Quick tip. The water softner people always recommend water softning. Before you call them call the people who drilled and/or service your well. They can tell you if softnes are generally required in your area. If you have to replumb your house look into PEX tubing. It is not effected by hard water. Good luck!
