I am planning on building a two story ICF house in Florida and would like to avoid mechanical rooms and extra wall spacing for large insulated ducts. I would prefer to use one of the mini-duct systems (at least for the first floor) such as Unico or Space-Pak with the air handler placed in the attic. The attic will be essentially a conditioned space with Icynene spray foam between the open trusses and a radiant barrier below the Gerard metal roof. Unfortunately, mini-duct systems are not common in this area.
Questions:
1) Does anyone have a preference in mini-duct systems based on features rather than availability?
2) Does anyone make motorized dampners for zoning with the small diameter ducts used in the mini-duct systems?
Sincerely,
— John Roy

Space-Pak has been good for me and my customers.
Before you close up the ceiling/attic interface, plan for a sufficient access/scuttle hole and have the attic unit installed in a waterproof drip pan as a condensate overflow precaution measure.
I have not used or installed electric damper units....mostly due to costs, but do use the flow restrictor plates to control and balance system and room imput rates.
