Adding to my previous post, we need some roofing repairs, and it is February in the Midwest (Kansas City). We had some water intrusion after a large snow and ice storm, and got the ceiling cut out, and about 2 months later, still have some wet lumber in the roof decking and also in the soffits, so we are assuming this is still an active leak. It’s a complex part of the roof (sidewall interface), so we are guessing we’ll need some shingles pulled back and flashing replaced/repaired. It’s an asphalt shingle roof. Can this repair be done properly this time of the year, or would we be better served leaving the ceiling cavity open and addressing this when it warms up?
