I want to mount one row of tiles in a border above the bathroom mirror but I want to make the row removable. Any suggestions on what type of backerboard will be rigid enough and what adhesive to use? The tiles were decorated by my children and I imagine that some time in the future we may want to replace the tile with another design.
Thanks

You could just stiick them in place with a spot of silicone in each corner. Drywall would be adequate backing as I doubt anyone will be walking on them or banging against them.
Drywall is probably ok. You'll just tear it, which is better than having a strong substrate and risking breaking the tile. Then you could put replacement tile over the tear.
