What is the present best way to mount a wall mirror say one 3 1/2 feet square?
My wife has a small business and we are putting a mirror in the bath.
I figured just use a metal strip at the bottom. BUT She does not want anything to show.
My sons house has some big mirrors that seem glued to sheetrock?
Seems dumb to me?What a mess if you pull the mirror off.
What is common practice?
Thanks.

we often get plate mirrors that size mounted by the glass shop. They have a special construction adhesive that they use in big globs every foot or thereabouts. They paste it up and level it. use some duct tape and/ or a few clips for a day while it sets up and then it's good to go it alone.
For taking it down ( your customers never change their minds, do they?) you slide a long flexible blade in to separate the spots near the edge and keep gradually pulling it away from tha wall untill it pops. Yes, the sheet rock will need repair.
Excellence is its own reward!
wain... a small L shaped molding is installed where you want the bottom of the mirror to be. It's 1/4" x 3/4", and takes the weight of the mirror, it's safer then just adhesive, and all you see is the thin edge of the metal, maybe a 1/16". As for the adhesive, be sure to use the black mirror mastic, almost anything else will attack the "silver" of the mirror over time and ruin it. Also be sure to give it enough time to fully cure before removing the tape...piece of cake BUIC
Told the installers a story I heard about somewhere the glued up mirrors had "obsenities" when ever they fogged -up. Seems the glue used (usually silicon) makes the mirrors fogg diffrently where the glue is. We all had a good laugh about those other peoples problem.
every morning I see a tic-tac-toe game and a smily face.
Perhaps you could nail a few strips of thin plywood to the studs and glue the mirror to these strips. When you need to remove the mirror, gently pull mirror, strips, nails and all.
