I need replacement brushes for my Delta Miter Saw, Model 36-220. Delta no longer manufacturers this part.
Any suggestions on finding a replacement part?
Thank You
P.S. If there is no way to get replacement Brushes then I’ll have to buy a new saw. Any recommendations…….not Delta.

If I had a need for a part I'd call my regular tool supplier.
Electric Tool and Equipment-Maumee, Ohio
Ask for Tim, mention me and Breaktime. If it's in his stash I'm sure he'd get it to you. Worth the call after you've exhausted your search.

Tim had the Delta Miter Saw Brushes
I just got off the phone with Tim. He had the brushes I need and a lot of other parts for the saw that I might need. I told him that you had referred me to him via Breaktime and he was a little surprised when I gave him my mailing address in Massachusetts.
I should have called him first because I wasted a lot of time going to Web sites and reading a lot blogs about trying to locate the brushes.
Thank You for directing me to him. Much appreciated!!!!!
Jim
Tim has taken care of me since maybe 1973. First his father and since, he and his mother. They are two of the finest people you could meet. I buy tools from nowhere else.
Over the years I've told tales about my dealings with Electric Tool. Foremost is that I'm never w/o a tool to do the job. If they can't fix it on the spot, I walk out with something to replace it till it's done. Find that online or at the depot.
I opened my account with them by Tim's dad asking me if I wanted one. "Sure" I replied. He said "we'll bill you every month, you pay upon invoice. OK?"
"Sure" I said.
Done.
They go overboard to keep me running. I cannot speak higher of anyone I've come in contact with over these near 40 years in business.
Thank you for the reply. But please, thank Tim for being there when you needed the part. I'm doing all I can to keep them afloat during these tough times. If they close up, I'll be like everyone else. Up the crick w/o the paddle.
Thanks again!
Miter Saw Brushes
Hi Calvin,
Tim was very helpful. He even suggested that I could save some $ on the shipping if we used USPS which would take a couple of extra days for delivery. When I told him what my saw was/wasn't doing he said the brushes might solve the problem but it might be a bad armature and to call him back if that turned out to be the case. He said he had a complete motor assembly for my saw and he would get me what I need. You're right....not many like Tim left. Any time I need tools , etc I'll call Tim.
Best of luck
And thanks for replying, hope things work out for you rea$sonably.

Hard to believe Delta's gone this way. They've built a reputation on making parts available forever, but I guess times change.
A few years ago I went on-line and found a source for graphite plates. Bought a 6 in sq piece of silver impregnated graphite in 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" , 3/8" and 1/2" thick sizes for about $100 total.
Cheaper for plain graphite, the silver loaded probably astronomically expensive these days.
I use a fine scroll saw to cut out new brushes from the sheets and file for fine fit, am set for life for new brushes of any type or size that has < 1/2" thick brushes.
PS: almost no delta tools have silver (or even copper) loaded brushes, all are graphite and the low end tools are plain carbon brushes.
Lucas starter on the backhoe has copper loaded brushes - at $25/ brush set at one time, it paid to buy the sheets and DIY brushes.
What, you don't make your own graphite by collecting soot from your trash burner? ;)

last time I tried that i got the temp and pressure too high and ended up with just a bunch of diamond dust. worked ok, just embedded the stuff into some brazed carbide on an old skillsaw blade for a concrete saw .... <G>

It is really hard to believe that that delta had ruined upto that extent..Because most of my friends used to have that and they were quite happy to use it..But the time changed i think..I don have any suggestion for the replacement pare but i can tell you not go for the new one with delta again..
Found the Brushes
I was able to locate the brushes at a business, Electric Tool and Equipment in Ohio, that Calvin had directed me to (see Calvin's posts). I've got a Delta Dust Collector, Drill Press, and Table Saw Fence....wonder what will happen if I need parts for them.
