Greetings folks,
A question for all you tool aficionados out there. Does anyone have any experience with a product made by Bladepoint called a Laser Alignment System? How about with a product sold through Sears called LaserTrack? Are there any others out there? I have a Makita LS1220 and I’d like to add something like this unless it’s useless.

In my opinion they are a useless jimcrack. The laser line is fatter than that of a pencil mark, you gotta take them on and off when you change blades, they are only available for certain arbor sizes. The only way to cut is with a good eye and a pencil mark. The laser guide goes into the garbage with the carpenter pencil sharpener. JMHO.

Hi, I see you asked this a very long time ago- am just pursuing this line of inquiry now. Have a Makita LS1211 which I love. Problem with the Irwin is twofold: in the case of my Makita, the recessed area is too shallow to allow for full blade contact. This could be modified by grinding down the arbor sleeve but I'd rather leave that component stock. The other issue I've read with the Irwin is that it reads 3/16" left of the cut.
Looking at the infiniter now, but they seem to just have one bore size & they don't advise drilling it out to 5/8" though some have with success. Generally the reports on the Infiniter seem to be more positive than the IRwin. The Oshlund reviews are mixed.
The other approach I'm considering is from http://www.laserkerf.com which looks more in line with the design I had in mind: where the line is visible with the blade OFF. Not too attracted to having a laser to line up only when powered up, duh. I like having my work clamped down in exact position BEFORE I turn it on.
It looks like Dewalt also has something along othose lines, DW7187 Adjustable Miter Saw Laser Guide System though I haven't checked it out.
Since I have the Infiniter, and a job to do Monday, may ream it out & see how it works. When there's time to get & install the order, will try the Laserkerf. You are welcome to write me off list.
