Hi there, i am wondering if anyone can help with the designing of a miter saw stand. I have a store bought stand, but its not up to the job. I’m a finish carpenter and i need something that i can use with a stop block and something that incorparates a small bench. Any ideas would be very helpful

I've found homemade stands, are bulky and heavy. I now modify store bought stands to suit my needs.
Try adding plywood wings to your existing setup. They can be attached with either screws or clamps. A folding roller stand can be used to support the free end. Once its attached, clamp or screw stop blocks to it or mark repeat cuts and common distances with a pencil or felt marker.
I have some tables with folding metal legs that I use for workbenches, great for routerwork or assembly.
I also screw some 8' scrap 2X4's to some folding metal sawhorses and use it for cutting sheets of ply with a circular saw.

I think the Sawhelper stand would fit your needs very well.

More expensive than most, but, great to work with - a real time saver with the tape measures built in.
I have had mine for about 7 years and would buy another if this one ever went away.
The Sawhelper setup is the best, but there is no bench.
I have a Rigid MSUV; it's pretty good but not great.
If I were to buy another stand it would be a Dewalt stand, and I would attach the quick-release arms to a piece of plywood to give me a benchtop.
Do you need it to be portable?
If not, go to New Yankee Workshop and look up Norm's mitre bench. It's about as good as it gets.

I use the Sawhelper also. For the bench I like to use 2 sawhorses from Trojan. They are adjustable in length, just use 2x4's from the jobsite and throw a piece of ply on top.
forgot to attach the pic.
Anyone know where Thorntown, Indiana is?

If you are going to be moving it store bought ones are the way to go. I worked for a guy that built a monster. It didn't work very well and weighed a ton. But you couldn't tell him that. What a jerk.
Buy a good one a modify it if you have to.

I built this while off work for a knee operation.
