Mitsubishi “Mr. Slim” – Advice Please!!
Getting ready to have HVAC installed in our new house. House is a ranch style split floor plan with approx. 2500 sq. ft. and also has a bonus room over the garage consisting of appox. 500 sq. ft.
First potential contractor met me at the house this morning and suggested a Mitsubishi “Mr. Slim” unit for the bonus room. Wasn’t familiar with these so I just did a little research and they sound pretty interesting and have high SEER ratings.
Do any of you have any recommendations about these units? Good, bad or otherwise? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sawblade

A few friends are in the HVAC business and they like those systems. They are very quiet.
i'm enjoying a mr.slim right now lol...i am in bermuda, and down here they seem to be the most popular brand...our house has them in every room, and yes they are very quiet...
only problem i've seen was when one started spitting out ice at me...apparently it has something to do with the freeon levels...turned out it hadn't been cleaned/checked in a while...
I use a 9000 BTU split system to heat and cool my office. Very quiet inside and out, but the inside fan unit (hangs on a wall) is about 32" x 12" x 7" deep, and you need to give some thought on where to locate it for best air flow. One of the manufacturers (LG?) makes an indoor register that looks like a framed painting, so i f decor is a concern, you might look into that.
Very nice, very quiet, and very expensive (if you have multiple rooms to cool).
Most of the units can only do one room, 2 tops. (depending upon size and how the rooms are connected).
I was quoted about $3,500 for one installed (and it would only cool the one area).
It was cheaper to go with an entire AC unit and ductwork that could cool the 4 rooms (over 3 floors).
