Moisture problems with insulated vinyl siding?
I’m wondering if anyone has ever seen moisture issues with insulated vinyl siding. One of the benefits of regular vinyl is the open drainage plane behind it allowing things to dry out. With insulated siding you may be creating hydrostatic pressure or may get some capillary action happening. The manufacturers claim it dries even better than the standard stuff but I find that hard to believe.

Most of it that I've seen has polystyrene insulation behind it. Polystyrene is waterproof so I don't see how it could be any worse than regular vinyl. But, there isn't enough insulation there to have any effect on your house at all. If you want the insulation because it makes the viny stiffer then it might make sense.
