We have closed in and finished the exterior on a large woodworking shed. During construction, before it was closed in, we got an extensive amount of rain. Some of the materials had been stained with deck stain prior to construction, while some had not. The rafters that had been stained are showing mildew/mold type spots, which do NOT come out with chlorine bleach. The unfinished wood inside the shed has mold/mildew stains that also do not come out with chlorine bleach solution. I have tried Deckswood, and that doesn’t help, either. I was advised by the Zinser people not to paint over the mold/mildew until it was killed. If I bleach it, and the stain isn’t removed, is the mildew dead? At this point, I’m ready to throw in the towel. Thanks for any advice……

I'm facing the same problem.
Have you tried sanding? I've not quite closed my shop in, so haven't attacked the problem in earnest, but I did try alternately sanding and bleaching a few spots. That seemed to work pretty well.
spray it with zep old & mildew i had mold in a shower pan put a towel in the pan sprayed the towel and it was gone
Bleach won't kill it.
