Help
I’m a novice builder in Michigan and started building my own house last year in May. Things were going well until the weather hit us back in November. By then I was well framed in , roof on, all bricked and doing the inside rough. I decided to go with cellulose insulation for the interior and exterior walls. As you are well aware of, they use water to mix with the cellulose to give it weight to toss it up on the walls. It takes time to dry before you can drywall so there won’t be any problems behind the walls. Well, one day I was in the basement and I saw water running down a vent pipe into the basement. I quickly went up into the attic. The roof sheeting was completely saturated and water was running onto the insulation. There was no snow on the roof. The roofer seems to think that moisture gathered in the attic when we fired up the furnaces to dry out the house. I went up there again to check (about two weeks later) and saw black speckles in one section of the roof on the boards. Is this the beginning of mold? Should I be concerned of further spreading? How can this be rectified? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
