I’ve been told that a “mold” dangerous to human health can grow in the soils under plywood (osb) structural floors. I’m looking for any help in this area, or should I consult the New England Journal of Medicine web site???

Dangerous mold can grow just about anywhere. All it needs are (i) oxygen, (ii) temps typically between 40-100 F, foor (dirt, wood, cellulose, paper, lint etc) and moisture. Most mold is probably benign. (Some fish are sharks, most aren't!)
Control the moisture and you'll reduce or eliminate mold growth.
Mold has gotten a lot of attention lately and there's a lot of uncertain information (that's a polite way of saying BS) out there.
Are you looking for help with the health aspects, or the building science aspects?
For the latter, try http://www.buildingscience.com/ probably the best source of info right know.
Try searching the archives on mold. Plenty of stuff has been posted here about it.
