I am in the residential inspection
business, (No, not for the government!
Our services are hired by the
prospective homeowner to inspect and
assess their potential home for
structural and/or pest damage or
conducive conditions that could lead to
“situations” in the future).
I love and appreciate BREAKTIME but does
anyone know of any other sites out there
pertaining to building issues, code
issues, current trends, materials, etc.?
I feel it a great responsibility to be
as informed as possible so that I may
pass pertinent info. on to our clients.

*Randy,Be forwarned......Many of the so-called Home Improvement web sites have information that will either be incomplete, innacurate or just plain wrong. The info you get on these sites should be taken as general guides and not de-facto rules. A real-live contractor, or a building organization, are your best bet for getting the right info.I am familiar with two of the sites mentioned by Mr. Fetterer. One (www.askthebuilder.com) has some of the worst ideas I have seen on the net and I avoid going there or I'd lose my composure (on the issue of plaster repair anyway). The other, http://www.builderweb.com, is not too bad. However you're gonna have to get used to a zillion cookies sent to your browser!Brew

I think http://www.remodeling.hw.net is a pretty good site that I didn't see on the list. I have also become a fan of miningco.com, under business, there is a construction heading. I haven't spent much time here but everything else I've found there was good.
